Is it possible to do a Segway tour in winter?
Maybe! In November and March we offer reduced tours. In the months of December, January and February our Segways hibernate to be fit again in the spring. However, we can have look at the given situation, if a few Segways want to interrupt their hibernation for a trip.
When do we meet and where?
Please arrive approximately 15 minutes before the start of the tour at Wolf-Dietrich-Straße 3. Please note that unfortunately we do not have a customer toilet.
Is everyone able to ride a Segway?
Yes. You just need some balance and a little bit of calmness at first. After just a few minutes you'll get the hang of it. If you suffer from disturbances of equilibrium or similar conditions, you may have some trouble. Just come on down, we'll be happy to show you the ropes.
Is everyone allowed to ride a Segway?
No.
In order to operate a Segway, you should weigh between 40kg and 120kg (about 100-260 lbs).
Children must have reached a minimum age of 12 years. Minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian or need a parent or guardian's written permission to join a tour by themselves.
Persons who are drunk or under the influence of other substances will not be allowed to join a tour. We kindly ask you to use your common sense.
I weigh over 120kg (260 lbs), am I really not allowed to ride a Segway?
The maximum pay load of the Segway is 117 kg/260 lbs. In many cases it is still possible to ride a Segway even if you are a little over the weight limit. It all depends on your core, balance and general body coordination. Participation in the Segway tour is always at your own risk.
And what do we do if it rains?
Our waterproof guides do tours in absolutely any weather and we cancel only in the event of snow fall or ice. We provide free rain ponchos to all participants. Some of the best and most memorable tours took place in the rain. You can see the city from a different angle and often the streets are lovely and pedestrian-free in the rain. However, we understand if you prefer to stay dry. We are happy to postpone the tour or refund you in the form of vouchers.
I am pregnant, am I ok to ride a Segway?
First of all, congratulations! We generally do not encourage pregnant women to ride a Segway, because there are always risks (falling) involved. If you still want to go, you may of course do so at your own risk.
Do I have to wear a helmet?
Yes, wearing the helmet is compulsory during the entire duration of the training session and tour. Rental helmets are included in the price, but you are welcome to bring your own fully functional bike helmet.
Will you tell us a little bit about the city?
Our guides are experienced Segway tour guides, but they are not accredited tour guides (Austrian Guides). Segway Tours Salzburg does not give historically detailed, classic city tours.
Am I able to rent Segways from you without a guide?
No, unfortunately not. We try to accommodate any special requests wherever possible. We do not, however, give out the Segways without a guide.
